Ministry starting work to boost transparency and anti-corruption system

First work meeting was held at the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia within the frames of “Boosting transparency and anti-corruption system” project. The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister Eka Sepashvili, representatives of USAID Georgia and IDFI. The project aims at improving governance principles, refining ethics at public sector, developing strategy for preventing corruption at the Ministry. New standards ensuring increase of accountability and transparency will be developed within the project.

A special group will be set up to solve the problems in Pankisi Gorge

Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Nodar Javakhishvili, together with the First Deputy Minister Ilia Darchiashvili visited Pankisi Gorge. The Minister met the local residents and was introduced to the existing problems of the Gorge. According to the locals, one of the most urgent problem of Pankisi Gorge is coast-protection of Alazani river. Nodar Javakhishvili said that according to the  Prime Minister's decision and order, a special working group will be set up, which will study the existing problems in the Pankisi Gorge.

30th Session of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe

30th Session of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe was held in Strasbourg. 

Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Mr. Tengiz Shergelashvili attended the event and made a speech before the members of the Congress. He highlighted the steps made for decentralization and talked about the recommendations given in a post-monitoring mission report. In his speech, Mr. Shergelashvili also reviewed the reforms that have been implemented during the last three years in terms of fiscal decentralization.

Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure continues a large-scale information campaign about "Mountain law". 

Within the campaign, the informational meeting was held in the Tetritskaromunicipality and Guria region.  Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Shergelashvili, along with Otar Konjaria and other representatives of the Ministry  met the local residents and the representatives of self-government and introduced them the "Mountain Law".

Regional Development Program is actively going on

Within the frames of Regional Development support program a meeting was held on March 16, at the “Court Yard Marriott” Hotel. The meeting was organized by the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia. An annual draft report of “2015 – 2017 Regional Development Program” prepared within the frames of Financial Agreement (Regional Development Support – phase II) signed on November 18, 2014 between CoE and the Government of Georgia and “Regional Analyses Discrepancies” updated in consideration of statistical data were reviewed at the meeting.

The event of the  presentation of the results of cooperation of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure and Solidarity Fund was held at the Ministry.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Nodar Javakhishvili, the Solidarity Fund Executive Director Mary Jashi, officials of the sub-structures of the Ministry and representatives of the Solidarity Fund.

Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure launched a large-scale information campaign about "Mountain Law"

Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure begins a large-scale information campaign about "Mountain law".  Meetings will be held in all regions and the population will be able to be informed  by the representatives of the Ministry.

Within the campaign, the first informational meeting was held in the Dusheti municipality.  Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Shergelashvili, along with other representatives of the Ministry  met the local residents and the representatives of self-government and introduced them the "Mountain Law".

Landscaping action adjacent to Tbilisi-Rustavi highway

Municipal Development Fund of Georgia is planting various types of seedlings adjacent to Tbilisi-Rustavi highway. Today Minister of regional development and infrastructure Nodar Javakhishvili, first deputy minister Ilia Darchiashvili and MDF executive director Juansher Burchuladze took part into the action. Landscaping action commenced in February and will be finalized by the end of March. Besides adjacent territory of Tbilisi-Rustavi highway landscaping action is scheduled to be conducted on Makhata mountain as well.
